Concert Posters – Design and Screen Printing

When I am not pushing pixels as a graphic designer, I moonlight as an independent musician. Of course, being a musician provides ample opportunity to put my graphic design skills to good use. Below is a selection of concert posters I have created over the years.

To celebrate my band’s first tour, I designed and screenprinted a limited run of tour posters. As it was a summer tour, incorporating a baseball motif was a natural way to evoke both summertime and the band’s Americana sound.

As this was my first foray into two-screen printing, getting the hang of the technique required patience and determination, and it resulted in a lot of messed up prints. Not wanting to waste these prints, each with its own unique pattern of ink bleed or color misalignment, we offered them up at half price alongside the good prints in our merch display.

The posters—both the good and bad ones—proved to be a hit on tour, and the proceeds from poster sales helped ensure we made a profit while out on the road, which is no small feat for a band’s first tour.
